My primary intention when creating artwork is to transport the viewer by creating a different sense of reality. My work seeks to release the viewer from the inhibited state of mind that modern society promotes by attempting to change the outlook of their daily environment. I do this by breaking down artwork to its fundamental physical aspects such as color, composition and texture. I create unease through my selection of subject matter and my different styles of mark making. This is done to show the variety of importance of each element just as certain aspects of our life carry greater significance than others. Through my artistic process, I explore the parallels between the layers of my artwork and the many fragments that compose our lives.
